本書由一位中國地質愛好者所編寫。作者歸納了大量放在公眾平台上的地質專家研究報告作為參考，並曾請益任教於香港大學之中國地質學者。作者期望本書能增進業餘地質愛好者對中國地質、地貌的了解，以及中國地質地貌在地球大歷史中的重要地位。

作者亦希望讀者可透過本書提供的地質框架對欣賞了解美麗的中國的山河有所裨益。本書使用的語言盡量保持淺白易明，行文、圖表和說明均以中英雙語寫成。書中收錄超過一百張插圖或地圖，有助讀者閱讀理解，並值得收藏。

This book is written by an amateur geologist fascinated with the geology of China. Building on his previous edition, the author has enriched the present version with many new photos. The author feels that publicly available academic geological research on China can be suitably interpreted to the wider public. This will allow more people to gain a better understanding of the geology and geological history of China, which should be viewed as an important part of our Earth’s geology and history.

Using a down-to-earth framework provided in this book, the readers can easily build up a useful framework to understand the geology of China. The text, diagrams and maps in the book are bilingual throughout. The book is illustrated with more than 100 useful diagrams, maps and photos. 作者簡介

作者曾慶田本是內分泌代謝病專科醫生。他對美麗的中國地質地貌有濃厚興趣，然而可供大眾閱讀和學習的中國地質材料十分有限。故此他供讀大學程度的地質學課程，到中國實地考察，並向地質學專家學習，又閱讀放諸大眾平台上的中國地質資料，彙集成一本淺白易明的地質書。
